AN OLYMPIC SPORT ?

As I stood at the baseline, I gently launched my firsr shot....a winner, the disc landing at the apex of the triangle some fifteen metres away.

"Not bad for a beginner, " croaked Donna, my fragile 89 year old opponent as she readied for her shot.

Trash talk from a granny. Really?

She quickly dispatched my disc, my ten point shot now just a memory. I could only admire her skill level, especially after she quipped,

"I really can't see the other end of the lane that well."

The game moved quickly from there and ended in a 47-47 tie, my first foray into the world of competitive shuffleboard taking place this afternoon at the Winona Seniors' Club near Stoney Creek.
.
After two more games and some post game socializing over slices of pizza, it was time to say goodbye to a group that made me feel like a teen.

Certainly a fun experience with some kind people but for now I think I'll stick to pickleball.
After all, isn't the definition of a sport something you work up a sweat at?
