With so many people rallying to support me, I began to realize that my story was worth getting out there, that indeed it could be a message of hope to others in similar challenging circumstances. My cancer, which for two months had been a source of uncertainty and fear, could be turned into something of genuine value.
And so, I got in touch with my supporters, my communion of saints, for a second time in five days.
Sunday August 28, 2011.
Hi Boosters
In keeping with the Ontario Egg Marketing Board’s slogan GET CRACKING,
I’ve decided to do a bit of writing about my recent battle with cancer.
It has been a very tough week, a Ghoster Coaster ride with Jack Layton’s face at the bottom of every hill.
The idea of a blog was quite foreign to me until my son-in-law Chris explained just how easy it is to share using that format. I’ve resisted the idea thinking that a blog is a self-centred tool to get attention, the letters B,L,O,G representing Better Leave Out God. But of late, I realize that my story is all about God and my journey.
So I’m ready to share. In a way, the story is writing itself and that’s good. Of course, I have no idea the ending but I am resolved not to disappear for a month and then wind up in an obituary… à la Jack.
The story begins over two months ago so I have a lot of catching up to do.
Again, thanks for your prayers and support.
Mike
As I viewed my first blog postings on the Google site that afternoon, I realized that I had a new voice. I knew that my story, whatever its outcome, had to be completely honest and transparent and that I had to park my ego at the door. If I was to be truly successful as a witness to God’s new plan in my life, I would have to let Him tell most of the story.
