ON EAGLE'S WINGS

Jacques is now recovering from his surgery on Tuesday. According to his family, the operation could not be completed as planned as his cancer may have spread to other organs in his body.

This news is discouraging and leaves me feeling numb and somewhat helpless.

At such a time, I turn instinctively to my powerhouse, my rock….my faith in God. I know that’s what Jacques has been doing for these past few months and I call on you to do the same.

I’m not sure how you pray, that really doesn’t matter. What is important is that you take a few moments today to give Jacques your prayerful support; a support that will raise him up on eagle’s wings and help sustain him for the next part of his journey.

Terry and I have been saying the novena prayer to the cancer saint, St. Peregrine, over the past nine months. Four of the people who were on our cancer list last year are now cancer free.

Here is the St. Peregrine prayer. Like any novena, it’s to be recited for nine consecutive days.
Know that God can move mountains and with His help, so can we.

Prayer to St. Peregrine

O great St. Peregrine, you have been called “The Mighty,” “The Wonder Worker,” because of the numerous miracles which you have obtained from God for those who have had recourse to you.

For many years, you bore in your own flesh this cancerous disease that destroys the very fibre of our being. You had recourse to the source of all grace when the power of man could do no more. You were favoured with the vision of Jesus coming down from His Cross to heal your affliction. Ask of God and Our Lady, the cure of the sick whom we entrust to you.
(Jacques and any others you may know with cancer)

Aided in this way by your powerful intercession, we shall sing to God, now and for all eternity, a song of gratitude for His great goodness and mercy. Amen.

And He will raise you up on eagle's wings,
Bear you on the breath of dawn,
Make you to shine like the sun,
And hold you in the palm of His Hand,
And hold you, mon cher ami, in the palm of His Hand.
