OUR NOVEMBER GETAWAY

For the past few months, Terry and I have been considering going on a holiday.

Although I’m scheduled for a CT scan on November 22, I don’t feel like the sword of Damocles is hanging over my head any more.

One possibility is a visit to the east coast.

A family friend and Brebeuf grad from the nineties, Joseph Raso, is currently shooting a TV series in Halifax and he kindly invited Terry and I to join him on his set. Joseph has been working in television in Los Angeles for the past six years. A gifted writer and talented producer, he has created a comedy series called Seed, sponsored by CITY TV, which will begin airing in the new year.

“If you want to be an extra in the show, I’m sure we could make that work,” Joseph wrote in a friendly e-mail.

He must have an episode with retired folk acting impatiently in supermarket lines.

Despite the allure of the camera, Terry and I have decided to take a trip to California to see Terry’s sister Karen who lives in Highland, a suburb of Los Angeles. Karen also owns a cottage near the ocean in Carlsbad and hopefully, we will be able to spend most of our time at the beach or touring west coast attractions.

Sorry Joseph, maybe we’ll visit your set for Season Two of Seed. Right now, it’s an easy choice between the California sun and the hurricane battered Maritimes. Hopefully, we’ll be able to get away tomorrow despite the rain and high winds expected here in Toronto tonight.
