JEOPARDY ANSWERS 2012

Thanks to those of you who tried my trivia challenge.

Turns out that my questions were a little more difficult than I thought (a bit like some of my math tests I suppose).

A former student of mine, Canice Mok, is the winner answering 11 out of 14 correctly.

Canice is a second year student at U of Waterloo in the Accounting and Financial Management program. A co-op student, he is currently spending the winter term working as an Associate Financial Analyst for Ecolab in Mississauga.

It's nice to think he has time for my trivia despite a demanding schedule.

Here are the answers.

1) This 66 year old Canadian broadcasting icon only seems to work at Grey Cup and
     Olympic Games.

    Brian Williams.

2) Because of these two knuckleheads, TSN began inflicting Daniel Negreanu reruns on
their viewers during prime time in October.

    Gary Bettman and Donald Fehr.

3) Pushed off the rim in May.

David Balsillie stepped aside as co-CEO of Research in Motion (RIM) amid growing
turmoil in the company. Although the wording of this question may have been
misleading, I was surprised that two people responded with the name Luka Magnotta.

4) David’s girl added spice to the closing.

   Spice girl Victoria Beckham.

5) After 244 years, this company stops production of its iconic multi-volume book sets.

   Encyclopedia Britannica.

6a) This senior did the ceremonial kick off at this year’s 100th Grey Cup.

     Governor General David Johnston.

b) This 27 year old kicked off to Chad Owens to start the actual game.

    Calgary place kicker Rene Paredes.

7) Hat trick girl wins Canadian hearts.

    Lou Marsh winner Christine Sinclair.

8) Hopefully he didn’t make the Order of Canada for decking Bobby Orr in the 1969
    playoffs.

Former Toronto Maple Leaf player and coach Pat Quinn.

9a) She had more searches on Google this year than any other celebrity.

      Whitney Houston.

b) He topped the list for the pro athlete with most Google searches this year.

    Basketballer Jeremy Lin.

10. Canada’s national magazine hails this individual as Parliamentarian of the Year.
      Others may not.

      MP Elizabeth May.

11) She went solo and live from November 21,2011 to September 3, 2012.

      Kelly Ripa.

12) Celebrated his 20th wedding anniversary with his wife in front of 68 million
      Americans.

Barrack Obama celebrated his 20th wedding anniversary by taking part in the first of
three presidential debates with Mitt Romney. The anniversary may have been the
reason the President seemed so mellow in this initial encounter with Romney.
