WHAT"S IN A NAME?

A company in Switzerland is in the baby naming business. Its website makes the boast,

"We are not looking for children's names, we create them. Your child will be the first one with this newly-developed first name. And probably not the last one."

Now I've heard this original baby name comes at a hefty price, sometimes in the thousands of dollars.

But hey, I'm willing to share some names with you at no cost whatsoever. The following list is inspired by the wonderful world of mathematics and I'm confident that any of these names will give a child an edge in this fast paced world that's so dependent on numbers.

Let's begin with Isosceles....which can be shortened to Lise. That's my favourite.

Next there's Vector...a powerful business executive type name.

Polyhedron would be another unique name... shortened to Polly for a girl or Ron for a boy.

How about Pentagon for the child with a five sided bedroom?

Or Matrix....another name with impact.

I like  Digit?....a cute name you can count on.

If you like traditional names, how about Logarithm or Abacus?

And I'm sure your child would be the only one with the name Combinatorics....or Rick for short.

And of course for fraternal twins, the names Cosine and Cosecant would work well.

While Theorem and Corollary would be my suggestion for identical twins. After all, it's often hard to tell the difference between a theorem and its corollary.

I could go on and on but I feel I might start going off an a Tangent...another great name by the way.

Yes, yes, I know it's time to Sine off!
