ALZHEIMER'S VILLAGE

A friend recently sent this CNN piece on care of people with advanced stage Alzheimer's.  It is a compelling story and parts of it reminded me of my mother's situation a few years ago now.

The fact that the staffing ratio of two workers to each "patient" speaks to the labour intensive nature of this enterprise.

I applaud this initiative and hope a Canadian version of such a model can be developed some day. Of course, for me, the village would have to include a twenty four hour Tim Horton's as well as unlimited access to Rick Mercer reruns.
