MY NOMADIC NIECE

Every family has someone who seems unable to be confined to one postal code. My niece Sydney is the the adventurous one in our clan. Syd has travelled extensively in Western Canada, Europe and Australia. When Terry and I were planning our trip to Spain, she was full of suggestions having just completed a one month trek along the famous Camino de Santiago there.

Her latest upcoming adventure is a bike ride across Canada which she describes in her post below.

I wish you every success Sydney. Be safe and know that your uncle really enjoys living vicariously through your escapades.

Hey friends! This September I’m taking off on a cheeky little bike ride to the coast (5000km of trail). I’m sharing because COVID is going to make this a little trickier for me and I could really use your help. I hate asking for favours, but if you (or someone you know) lives anywhere along this way and would be okay with me pitching a tent on the yard for a quick night (out by 5/6am), I would be very grateful. I’m just going to camp illegally in a bush otherwise and be sweet, but meeting your silly uncle or loving parents or whoever the heck else you know along this way would seriously just make my trip that much more special. I’m going to be very diligent in taking safety precautions for COVID and be an extra considerate guest. I’m an experienced camper and will NOT poop in your nans garden. Be sure to message me too even if you can’t put me up but want to grab a coffee while I swing through your hood. I’d love to see as many of you (from distance w/masks) as possible. Much love. Syd 🚲 🙏🏼
p.s Kingston homies I’ll be taking a little detour to visit yous too 😘
p.p.s I’m also not expecting any definite “yes” from anyone as I won’t have any real concrete dates to give either (only rough estimates)... mostly just hoping to build a little potential network along my way to make it more enjoyable (and safe 😳).
