RULE 6

Rule 6: Set your house in order before you criticize the world.

Sound familiar.

I think Jesus said the exact same thing when he taught, "Why do you look the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?" Matthew 7:3

In chapter 4, Peterson encourages us to aim high, to set our sights on the positive things we can do to better ourselves. Here, in his discussion of Rule 6, he attends to the other end of the behaviour spectrum as he exhorts, "Start to stop doing what you know to be wrong." In other words, take aim at the low stuff.

Much easier said than done.

I think lack of introspection and will power keep some folks forever spinning their wheels. It's true that most things in our lives are not black and white but for those that are, eliminating the black is the imperative.
