For most Canadians, this Thanksgiving is like no other. Indeed, the virus has sucked the life out of a wonderful Canadian tradition this weekend.
In place of turkey and cranberries with extended family, Terry and I are having rice and chicken legs by ourselves.
We can only hope that Santa won't be affected by Covid this Christmas.
However, one doesn't need a heaping plate of food to express thanks and today, I'm taking the lead from my two and half year old grandson when it comes to gratitude.
Every night before dinner, my daughter asks Elliott what he's thankful for. He always begins, "I'm thankful for my food, I'm thankful for my family and today, I'm thankful for......"
I love his prayer and his innocent reflection on his day.
I'm also thankful for my food and family today. But I'm also thankful for friends both new and old who support and inspire, for the natural beauty that surrounds me and helps strengthen my faith and for my health which affords me the opportunity to continue playing a small part in keeping the whole wheel spinning.
Have a thankful day!
