NEW YEAR"S DAY 2021

Wishing you a very Happy New Year!

It has to be better than the one we just suffered through.

Not sure about resolutions for 2021. The word resolution comes charged with such pressure. Rather, let me state my intentions for the New Year.

First off is my intention to keep learning; be it a convention in bridge, a little more French vocabulary, maybe a new recipe or two. Being open to change is what keeps one from aging too quickly. As well, I have writing project in mind that I will share in an upcoming post.

My second goal is to try to be listen more. Everyone has a story to tell, a different perspective to share, a bit of sadness to be lifted from their shoulders. My recent time with Larry has taught me so much about shutting down one's own narrative and absorbing another's life experience.

And thirdly, as I get older, I realize that the time ahead of me is very finite. To use it productively by aiming high each day is something I strive to do. The words of Jean de Brebeuf written below always come to mind as I begin every new year.

May they be an inspiration to you as well!

For fear that God would tear me up by the roots
as a tree that bears no fruit
I prayed to Him to leave me standing yet this year
and I promised Him that I would bear better fruit
than I have done in the past.
