I visited Larry in hospital yesterday. His daughter called inviting me to drop by.
Indeed, it's such a privilege to be a part of Larry's inner circle these days.
He is much weakened but was still able to give me a fist pump when I arrived. By the end of my visit, he was singing parts of a few songs. That made me so very happy.
"This is so hard, Mike," he shares. "You have no idea. The pain goes up and then down but mostly up."
"Like a roller coaster?" I ask.
"Exactly," he moans," but one that I'd never want anyone else to ride."
God works in mysterious ways and I know He's at my hero's side now.
Being in the presence of a dying person is a gift, a very difficult gift. I will forever be grateful for what Larry is teaching me about suffering, about carrying a cross and about the hope that is my faith.
Please keep praying for Larry and his family.
