THE BEST GIFT EVER PART 4

This personal Christmas story comes from friend and former colleague Sandra Boetto. Her sharing assures me that the Christmas spirit will forever shine bright.

My childhood memory of my favourite Christmas present would have to be my first Barbie doll and a carrying case for her outfits back in the 60s. My parents couldn't afford to buy us a lot, but they always made Christmas so special. My younger sister and I always slept together on Christmas Eve, and I remember we were so excited we could barely fall asleep. I recall listening for Santa's jingle bells on the roof. We lived in a bungalow with no fireplace, so I'm not sure how we imagined he would get in to our living room to leave our gifts under the tree!

Mom and Dad really kept the magic going for us, and Christmas just hasn't been the same for our family since they both passed away ten years ago, just over a year apart. Now, having raised our four adult children, we are trying to keep Christmas traditions going for our two grandchildren.

We have a special nativity set we always have them set up with us in our living room. We also take them carolling to neighbourhood friends each year. As Mike said, it is only as we age that we realize how precious these family traditions truly are. Thanks for giving us the chance to share our memories here! Merry Christmas to all of you!! 🎄💕 Love, Sandra Boetto
