As Terry and I watch continue to watch The Chosen, the reason for the title of the series becomes more and more apparent.
Although the theme of the program is the ministry of Jesus, the real focus is on His disciples, His chosen ones.
I used to think that the apostles were a rag tag group of young men who, with the exception of Simon Peter and Judas, were fairly nondescript or interchangeable.
However, as the series goes on, I began to see more clearly that each was chosen for a specific gift or quality. As well, I also think that if faith is on a spectrum, then the disciples, like us, reflect a wide range of people from true believers like Nathaniel and Andrew to doubters like Thomas and Matthew.
I think I'm somewhere in the middle along with James and John.
Despite such diversity in belief, Jesus says to Simon the Zealot in one scene, " I have everything that I need but I wanted you."
A powerful message for all of us.
I hope you've taken the time, like 350 million others, to watch some or part of the series.
