LENTEN RETREAT WEEK 1

Lent is a time for Christians to do a spiritual spring cleaning as it were.

I subscribe to a Jesuit newsletter which recently has made a Lenten retreat available to all. I hope you have time to have a look. A far cry from penance and fasting, these reflections provide insights into how we can help create a more loving world, something we so desperately these days.

Welcome to the first full week of Lent!
As we begin our retreat together, I invite you to do two things:
1) Review the welcome video to better understand the goals of this retreat. You can find that video by clicking here.
2) Spend time this week prayerfully moving through the first module. Our friend, author Paul Mitchell, provides a beautiful video reflection in which he challenges us to avoid the temptation to hide from our vocation.
Paul says: "We sometimes hide behind other people. We let someone else do the thinking, leading and choosing in our life instead of attending to what our own prayer reveals and sharing where our conscience stirs. In the moment, it can feel safe, but safe is not typically where the Spirit lives."
In God's peace,
