Our dear friend Grace Harknett did it today with a wee game of pickleball. She's still has the most consistent serve in town. Her game was followed by a reception and cake in her honour at the community centre.
Grace has been the convenor of pickleball since its inception at the Thornhill Community Centre 12 years ago... four days a week, three and four hours at a time. Not a job for the faint of heart. Grace is the reason our games are well managed, friendly and fun.
Her no nonsense leadership style would give Donald Trump a run for his money.
Unfortunately, Grace is currently undergoing a chemo regimen for lymphoma but she continues to stay positive and grateful for all the blessings in her life.
I know I speak for an entire community of pickleball players who wish Grace a very Happy Birthday.
