THE CHOSEN SEASON 5

Terry and I went to the theatre on Saturday with a friend to watch The Chosen, The Last Supper, Part 1.

Unless you have one of those streaming services, it's not freely available anymore. Fair enough....it must be a very expensive project with two more seasons in the works.

The movie traces the timeline between the Last Supper and the betrayal of Jesus by Judas.

It Is a depiction which dramatically captures the humility, sacrifice and suffering of a man whose principles and actions have reshaped the world. The washing of the feet scene was especially poignant. We are here to serve. The Garden of Gethsemane, we are here to follow God's will. The betrayal of Judas, we are weak and self serving.

Some, like my priest at church yesterday, would lament that in today's world, Jesus is an inconvenient truth. Others would even say he is simply irrelevant.

I suppose if you build your heaven on earth, Jesus is irrelevant. But for me, he is real. To those who are suffering, he is very real.

We are all on a journey here. It can be difficult and as my friend Tom says, "We all know the end of the story. No one gets out alive."

But the reality of Jesus, his will for us, his love, makes the journey one of self discovery, a journey we need not make alone, a journey which holds the promise that the very best is yet to come.

Have a good Holy Week.
