Jacques continues to do well at home.
When I visited today, I brought some special sustenance for his journey…the Holy Eucharist on this the Feast of Corpus Christi.
Jacques is eating in moderation and his voice is much stronger than it was on Thursday.
He is sleeping in a converted room on the main floor of his house which overlooks his marvelous garden. The strain on his body from his two week hospital stay has abated and his eyes have a familiar clarity.
On Saturday, he received a very special gift from his niece Denise who is getting married on July 6. Jacques knows he can’t make the wedding so Denise brought the part of the celebration to him when she arrived wearing her wedding dress. What a touching surprise.
Some prayers have been answered as Jacques has little need for pain killers at this point. A palliative care doctor is on his speed dial and a nurse is coming in twice a week to attend to his needs.
Keep praying for him…for his comfort, for his faith, for his peace.
