THE NATIONAL KIDS CANCER RIDE

The annual Terry Fox Run is upon us soon and once again, I am reminded of the courage of a young man that continues to inspire a nation. To date, the Terry Fox Foundation has raised over 600 million dollars for cancer research.

Terry’s Marathon of Hope in 1980 has encouraged many others to travel across our great country in efforts to raise funds to combat this disease.

One of these is our neighbor April Dequanne who is currently cycling across Canada as part of the annual National Kids Cancer Ride sponsored by Sears. Mother of twin six year old boys, April set out yesterday from White Rock Beach, British Columbia on a trek that will finish seventeen days later in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Amazingly, April has already eclipsed her personal pledge goal by raising over $25,000 for the cause. Follow her blog at www.snkcr-adequanne.tumblr.com for more information and photos of her journey.
