FLIPPING THE OMELET

I recently received an encouraging note from my friend Bo.

It read in part,

"I'm really enjoying your blogs...some make me laugh...some bring tears...and all of them give me material to reflect on while I'm running or cycling."

It warms my hear to think that my sharing can be helpful to others.

But now, as Pope Francis would say, I'd like to flip the omelet, pontiff-speak for turning things around.

I need your help me with a question that I've been tussling with for about a year now.

Simply put, what is your image of God?

If indeed we are created in His image and likeness, then what is God's image and likeness?

Is He the Transcendent One or the Imminent One? Is God a person like a grandparent or a character like Santa Claus? A creator like Walt Disney or a hero like Clark Kent? A feeling like peace or an concept like eternity? A friend or a judge? A guiding light or a gentle wind? A scorekeeper or a player?  A face or a force?

For my friend Bo, a maven mathematician; Is God a monomial or a trinomial? A prime or a composite? A present value or one with compound interests? Real or complex?

In short, who do you pray to? Who are you in relationship with? Who is your God?

I'd love to hear your thoughts.

I realize this is a very personal question so know that I will preserve the anonymity of your response.
