UNCERTAIN TIMES

How do you like living in a post apocalyptic movie? At least that's what it felt like to me as I drove along a quiet stretch of road this afternoon.

Either that or a 1970's flick when gas prices were 69.9 cents a litre, the current price for unleaded here in Barrie.

The sense of uncertainty we all feel in the face of the Corona virus is heightened by the alarming statistics reported in the 24/7 news cycle as well as the ever growing list of closures and restrictions that have been announced in the past few days.

Scary times to be sure and interestingly, times where grocery store workers and truck drivers are more valued that actors and sports figures.

In the book Homo Deus by Yuval Noah Harari, the author points out that if indeed we are a global community, we must come together as one to face  challenges such as global warming, the migrant crisis and gender inequality.

Just maybe this virus may bring us all to the realization that if we are to thrive on planet Earth, we must do so, not under a myriad national flags, but under one global banner.
