For the past year or so, I've been having on-going interactions with world famous author and bridge master Barbara Seagram. Of late, Barbara has very openly been sharing her breast cancer story in her weekly bridge newsletters, a journey which has included six chemotherapy sessions and four weeks of radiation.
Happily, today, she reports she is cancer free!
I have been sending her supportive notes throughout her treatment and she's always been so diligent at getting back to me within hours, despite the fact she receives about 400 emails every day.
Upon congratulating her on her good news this morning, I added the following little note.
I also want to share that you actually have a fan club in the works. I recently began a group that, each week, discusses and reviews one chapter from your 25 conventions book. We are currently working on cuebid raises.
Then, I summarize and send out the finished product to Rigby in Kansas City, Kate in Australia, Nancy in San Diego, Mario in Maple and a host of others. (Hope you don't mind that I've added to and modified your notes as per the wishes of the group...a few summaries are attached above.)
Thanks for continuing to be the wisdom and inspiration for some many.
Soon thereafter, I received this friendly reply.
Dear Michael,
Indeed I am so happy to be cancer free now.
Love that there is a fan club out there!!! Will try to get a look at what you sent when I have a little more time.
Hugs and thanks,
Barb
My Editor would be distraught. Perhaps best if I not look at your summaries. 😊
All the very best.
Barb
What an incredible lady!
