STILL NOT ENOUGH

Seems our Canadian Prime Minister is on the same page as me.

Trudeau spoke yesterday about being conflicted as a Catholic these days.

He has appealed personally to the Pope Francis to take responsibility and offer an apology for the church's role in Indigenous atrocities.

"It's time for the Church to actually take responsibility and apologize, and not worry about what the lawyers say about what that could put them on the hook for, but actually understand what it takes to heal and forgive and to move forward," the PM said.

Too bad the Papal response has being tied up by institutional inertia and resistance.

Here's Pope Francis's weak response on his Twitter feed this morning.

"I join the Canadian Bishops and the whole Catholic Church in Canada in expressing my closeness to the Canadian people, who have been traumatised by shocking discovery of the remains of two hundred and fifteen children, pupils at the Kamloops Indian Residential School."

And later,

"I follow with sorrow the news that arrives from Canada about the upsetting discovery of the remains of 215 children,” Francis said in his customary Sunday noon remarks to the public.

“I join with the Catholic church in Canada in expressing closeness to the Canadian people traumatized by the shocking news. This sad discovery increases the awareness of the sorrows and sufferings of the past.“

“May the political and religious authorities continue to collaborate with determination to shed light on this sad affair and to commit to a path of healing."

Still not good enough Pope Francis!
