THE BEST GIFT EVER PART 15

I love receiving Christmas stories about traditions beyond our Canadian shores. This is from Peter Kanellopoulos, a new friend I've had the good fortune to get to know this past year.

My family didn't have much when I was growing up in a small village in southern Greece called Analipsis near the city of Kalamata.  Christmas wasn't very extravagant with fancy and expensive presents. However, I do remember as a small boy the buzz and excitement as we all got together with my aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents to celebrate Christmas.  it was such fun just being all together with family.

Honestly, I don't remember getting many presents but what I do remember most about Christmas then was the anticipation of us kids getting up early on Christmas morning to go to our friends and relative's homes and sing Christmas carols for money.

Then of course we would go and spend all our money buying candies at the local store.
As for the most memorable gift I ever received as an adult, it was a book from my daughters called "Dear Dad" with some wonderful pictures and priceless quotes about what a dad is. Here are a couple quotes from the book.

"Fathers are the original super heroes. No one can save the day like a dad can."

"A father is someone you look up to no matter how tall you grow".

And here's one that my daughters love. "It is admirable for a man to take his son fishing, but there's a special place in heaven for the father who takes his daughters shopping".
Thank you Mike for sharing with all of us and bringing friends closer together during this Christmas Season.
