THE FUTURE IS IN MY CUTLERY DRAWER!

A few days ago, our son-in-law Chris T gifted us with what he called "the utensil of the future."

Certainly a bold claim from a guy who touted GPS as life changing.

Actually he sent us eight utensils of the future, eight stainless steel sporks.(Don't tell Chris but sporks are certainly not new to campers.)

A spork is designed with features of both a spoon and a fork. The overall shape is similar to a spoon complete with a handle and a small bowl-like structure on the end. At the very end of the spork are short tines that are useful for picking up solid food.

They're actually quite an ingenious item and ideal for eating salads. As well, I like them for potatoes and other crumbly foods. But when it comes to eating spaghetti, the tines are just too short to help with the pasta twirl.

Do I appreciate yet another gadget? Not entirely.

But what I do appreciate the thoughtfulness and love that went into this gift.

Thank you Chris!

And may the spork be with you.
