I'm not a fan of CT scans. Who is?
When my hematologist suggested one a few months ago, I was surprised it had been four years since my last.
"Let's check in on your cancer cells," Dr. Silverman advised.
In fact, they did a full body scan.... chest, abdomen, pelvis...the works.
Lots of practice at holding my breath while lying in a long cylindrical tube.
Fast forward to this morning and my results. As I entered the doctor's office, I was relaxed and open. I think I made my peace with cancer a long time ago. Now it's just a wingman, not my driver.
Like a good poker player or an absent-minded one, the doctor called up my profile on his computer without giving anything away.
"Here we go," he began. "Everything looks great, In fact, the tumors we've been tracking are actually smaller than they were eight years ago. I'd say you're an A++."
A feeling of deep gratitude flooded over me.
Even if he was marking on a curve, that's a pretty good score.
I always tell people that the best is yet to come and today, I'm riding that wave of optimism.
Wonderful news and great to hear! Wishing you a happy summer Mr. Daoust, ~ Patrick Ma ('00)
