A bit of an adventure today.
Our neighbor, Theresa, called this morning asking if Terry and I wanted to be extras in a promotion for a movie. Her son works as the prop and set designer for a start up production company.
Before we knew it, we were driving to an out of the way location near Pickering where we were so surprised to land in a small "village" made up of phony store fronts, a mock town hall and a gazebo at the centre of a town square. All very surreal. In fact, it reminded me so much of the set used for the Gilmore Girls.
After a lot of waiting and free snacks, the 40 or so extras gathered for our instructions.
"Spread out about the "village" and walk around like zombies. There will be a drone zooming about capturing your images but don't look up at it. Keep your arms at your sides and make sure you keep a crazed smile on your face."
I've never aspired to an acting career but walking like a zombie, I can do.
After about three or four five-minute takes, we had a short break and then did some group shots of the zombies at close range as they ran up the street together.
And here I thought zombies only came out at night.
All in all, it was a fun day and one that gave me a true appreciation of the time and effort that goes into entertaining us.
I often remind people that the best is yet to come and today, if not the best for me, it certainly was the most bizarre.
