Yesterday marked the fifteenth anniversary of the beginning of my cancer journey.
Those words — "You've got cancer" — still ring loud and clear. So does the nurse's encouragement: "That's a lemon, honey. Now it's time to make lemonade."
Lemonade indeed.
Fifteen years later, I look back with gratitude, humility, and a deep appreciation for the gift of time. This journey has brought challenges I never expected, but it has also taught me resilience, perspective, and the importance of cherishing each day.
I know I'm one of the lucky ones, and not a day goes by that I'm not thankful for the extra years, memories, and moments I've been given.
My heart is with everyone facing this disease today — whether you are newly diagnosed, in treatment, in recovery, or supporting a loved one through their battle. I wish you hope on the difficult days, strength when you feel weary, and the courage to keep moving forward.
Fifteen years later, I'm still making lemonade.
